Western Australia is a great place to live, and teach. Our public schools can be found in locations all across our vast state, offering you opportunities to live and teach in some incredible locations.
Our purpose is clear: every student, every classroom, every day.
Come and join us.
The Department of Education is seeking applications from teachers currently living interstate, who want to relocate to Western Australia.
Our regional schools are on the look-out for talented secondary teachers, specifically in the following learning areas:
- English
- Mathematics
- Science
- Humanities and Social Science (HASS)
- Design and Technology
- Home Economics
- Education Support
Secondary teachers with qualifications outside of these areas, and primary school teachers, are also welcome to apply.
To teach in a Western Australian public school, you must have a recognised tertiary teaching degree, or, an undergraduate degree and a post-graduate teaching qualification equivalent to 4 years of study. Find out more information about our teacher qualification requirements on our website.
If you already live in Western Australia, do not apply for this Interstate Teacher Pool. Apply for the fixed term or graduate pool, Remote Teaching Service pool, or for individual advertised vacancies.

Many of our teachers have taught in regional areas, and reflect on their time as one of the most enjoyable and beneficial parts of their careers, both professionally and personally. They tell us about the sense of community, the enhanced opportunities for career growth, and - most of all - they tell us about the children and young people they have worked with.
Teaching in WA regional and remote public schools comes with a range of personal and professional benefits, including:
