These positions are part of the Aboriginal Employment Program (AEP), which is a diversity initiative to achieve equality and increase workforce representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. What is the AEP about?
The AEP is a 12-month program which provides Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people employment and career development opportunities. The program commences in February 2022.

The position
We currently have one position available for filling within the Dangerous Goods Safety Branch. In this role you will be responsible for providing advice to, and conducting inspections in, communities across Western Australia in relation to their handling and storing of dangerous goods. These include goods such as petrol, diesel, LP Gas and chlorine.
You will have the capacity to build good working relationships with a range of stakeholders and be able to help develop preventative safety measures.
This position is located in East Perth, however you will be required to work at other sites across Western Australia including remote communities as part of this role.
We have one position available at either Level 3 or at Specified Calling Level 1.

Level 3 Job Requirements
- Successful completion of Year 12 course, or equivalent, in science (preferably chemistry or physics).
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and write concise, clear and logical reports.
- Ability to liaise and negotiate outcomes with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Specified Calling Level 1 Job Requirements
- Bachelor degree in science or engineering or an approved equivalent.
- Demonstrated ability to research issues and prepare concise clear and logical reports.
- Ability to liaise and negotiate outcomes with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- A current resume including the names of two (2) referees, with a current line manager preferred.
IMPORTANT: Please clearly indicate in your cover letter which level you are applying for – i.e. Level 3 or Specified Calling Level 1. The level at which applicants are appointed will be dependent on their qualification and suitability for the role.
