These positions are part of the Aboriginal Employment Program (AEP), which is a diversity initiative to achieve equality and increase workforce representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Therefore, pursuant to Section 51 of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (WA), only Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants will be considered for this role (refer to Section 51 – Fact Sheet).

What is the AEP about?
The AEP is a 12-month program which provides Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people employment and career development opportunities. The program commences in February 2022.

The position
The Information and Engagement Officer sits within the Consumer Protection Division who is responsible for ensuring consumer rights are protected through the regulation of property, retail and services industries.
In this role, you will assist in the engagement with the Aboriginal Community to develop, produce and implement educational and informational projects to improve consumer protection outcomes for the Western Australian Aboriginal communities. You will be responsible for planning, coordinating and presenting at events and functions, and analysing information requested to implement strategies for promotion of these topics of education.
We are looking for a self-motivated individual who has good research and analytical skills as well as verbal and written communication skills to effectively engage with a diverse range of people. It is also essential for you to demonstrate your computer literacy in using a range of software packages.
This position will be located either in Perth or Broome. This will be subject to the location of the successful applicant after the finalisation of the process.
