Appointment Pool
We are seeking to establish a pool for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2022 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2022 school year.
Under general supervision and guidance, Home Economics Assistants will assist in the delivery of educational programs relating to cooking and textiles. This includes the safe handling and storage of equipment and materials, in accordance with Department of Education guidelines. Ideally, suitable applicants will have experience in a school environment and working collaboratively as part of a team.
As the Home Economics Assistant you will have a proactive, positive approach to your role and will be able to work well autonomously as well as part of a team. Suitable applicants will be able to prioritise tasks well, demonstrate initiative and will be highly organised and efficient. Byford SC has specialist facilities, including a commercial kitchen and textile centres. Experience with cleaning and maintaining equipment, furniture, fittings and resources will be highly regarded.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
