Position Profile: The Discipline of Microbiology PathWest is seeking to appoint suitable qualified and enthusiastic as well as experienced Consultant Pathologists with expertise or subspecialty interest in or in paediatric/ and obstetric and neonatal microbiology.
Microbiologists assigned to the Perth Children’s Hospital and the Women’s’ and Newborns’ health service will provide microbiology and infection control liaison appropriate to neonatology, paediatrics and obstetric/gynaecology services. Pre-existing experience in providing a microbiology service to these patient groups is desirable. Microbiologists with either a paediatric or adult Infectious Diseases Physician qualification (FRACP) would be particularly suitable applicants; however an FRACP is not a pre-requisite for the position .Service duties will include participation on a microbiology on call service roster on an equal basis with other team members.
Appointees will be highly motivated, will have demonstrated ability to work harmoniously as part of a team and will provide a responsive, best practice, client focussed service. Appointees will share the Department's strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, to continuing education, and to applied clinical research in microbiology.
