The Opportunity.
This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate and motivated to join the South West Development Commission to lead a team in achieving future social and economic development of the region. Being an authentic and contemporary leader, you as the Director of Regional Development will have a can-do attitude with the ability to think outside the box to contribute to shaping and strategizing policy surrounding economic, and business development initiatives.
Located in the iconic South West region, home to natural beaches, beautiful vineyards, forests, caves and over 1000 kilometres of awe-inspiring coastline just waiting to be explored. You will lead and guide a team to achieve desired outcomes for the Commissions, and help foster outcomes through delivering State Government programs and projects which play an integral part of the South West Development Commission.
The Director will contribute to greater investment matters for the South West region, by collaborating and consulting with key stakeholders. In addition to this, you will provide input in matters relating to corporate governance, policies and State-wide government initiatives such as job creation programs for regional communities.

- Work Related Requirement 1 Role Specific: Demonstrated extensive experience in regional development including planning and implementing complex projects within a strategic framework, involving the private and government sectors.
- Work Related Requirement 2 Role Specific: Demonstrated knowledge and experience shaping and managing strategy and policy, particularly around economic and business development initiatives, to achieve organisational and sector-wide benefits and outcomes.
- Work Related Requirement 5 Think Strategically: Highly developed conceptual and strategic problem-solving skills with proven ability to think creatively and laterally to provide high quality, future focussed results.

To be eligible for a permanent appointment to the Western Australian public sector you must be an Australian citizen or have permanent residency status in Australia. To be eligible for a fixed term or a casual appointment you must have documentary evidence of your entitlement to live and work in Australia for the period of the contract and this is required as part of your application.
Subject to appointment, successful applicants will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy before commencing employment;
- obtain and provide a current National Police Certificate (police clearance) before commencing employment;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement.
- current and valid Western Australian C (car) class driver's licence or equivalent is required (if not currently held, must be acquired prior to commencement at applicant's expense)
The pool will be valid for a period of twelve (12) months following finalisation of the process and may be used to fill permanent and fixed term, full time and part time opportunities that may arise in this period. Please note, being appointed to the pool does not guarantee you placement to a position.
