Position Profile: We are seeking to appoint a suitably experienced individual with a passion for rural and remote healthcare to position of Director Medical Services at Albany Health Campus (AHC). This dynamic position will oversee day to day operational management of medical services and provide medical leadership including coordination of Medical Clinical Governance and continuous improvement activities for the site. This position will establish and maintain collaborative relationships with clinical services providers’ ensuring high quality and safe clinical care is provided to the local community.
The Director of Medical Services does not have a case load and on-call is not included within this role. However involvement in meetings such as: Albany Hospital Internal Medicine, Head of Departments, Medical Advisory Committee, Medication Safety Committee and the Clinical Engagement Group are important aspects of this role for the development of Albany Hospital. In addition, the Director Medical Services will work in partnership and support the Regional Medical Director in implementing the WACHS Great Southern Strategic Directives, ensuring the regional health network performance.
Albany Hospital currently has 21 salaried Consultants in various disciplines, an array of visiting specialists and numerous Senior Medical Practitioners. The Director of Medical Services oversees these practitioners as well as the training and welfare of 5 Interns, 16.5 Resident Medical Officers and 6 Registrars all employed by WACHS.
Albany Health Campus has 81 overnight, 31 same day and 16 inpatient mental health beds. This ensures the delivery of streamlined health services in a contemporary and innovative hospital; responsive service; care via collaborative working practices and quality assured patient services. The hospital has general and specialised services for a diverse case-mix, along with highly motivated medical staff and many learning opportunities.
