This is a ten (10) month fixed term, part-time (0.8FTE) position commencing Term 2, 2021.
Byford Secondary College (SC) is seeking to appoint a highly motivated and proactive Science teacher to join our team. We are seeking likeminded staff who have a passion for secondary education and the desire to impart their skills and knowledge across our college.
The successful will possess a sound understanding of the West Australian (WA) Science Curriculum and Senior School science courses, Specific skills and experience in teaching Experience in teaching Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) Chemistry courses is highly desirable. Knowledge and the ability to use learning strategies that successfully engage students in science will be highly regarded.
The ability to differentiate curriculum and implement innovative approaches to improve outcomes for both high and low achieving students is a key element to this position. You will build positive relationships with your students and be passionate about creating positive futures for students, be performance driven and utilise evidence based decision making skills.
Byford SC is an Independent Public School located approximately 30 kilometres from the Perth CBD. Our College provides for the secondary education needs of students from Byford and the surrounding communities, with an expected student cohort for Year 7-12 in 2018 of approx. 1250 students. Byford SC also became a focal point for secondary education provision for students with disabilities when, in 2017, our inclusion facilities were opened.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
