Road Planning Officer

The Road Planning Officer is part of the Road Planning Branch that leads the delivery of network and road planning services across the Western Australian State Road Network.
The Road Planning Branch is responsible for identifying, planning and defining long-term road network solutions and undertaking road planning, network and traffic modelling, route concept and intersection design analysis as well as preliminary engineering, detailed route and alignment selection studies and associated land requirement plans.
The Branch plays a key role in the planning, conceptual development and initial definition of the State’s high-profile transport projects, thereby laying the important foundations for detailed project development and project delivery.
About the Role
The Road Planning Officer is responsible for assisting in the initial planning and concept design of major and complex transport infrastructure proposals, supporting the formulation and review of route and transport infrastructure concepts as well as aiding in the development of associated land protection plans required for future expansion and improvements of the State road network.
The role also contributes to land use and other strategic and statutory planning matters as part of the statutory planning referral process, to achieve integrated land use and transport planning outcomes.
The successful applicant will work within a Branch that is devoted to ensuring effective delivery of road planning functions, a key focus on contributing to studies for new road links and major expansion to existing roads, developing and maintaining internal and external working relationships as well as providing good customer focussed service.
About You
We are seeking a planning professional with practical technical skills and experience in road planning and design (including traffic and transport modelling analysis) and ability to successfully project manage and co-ordinate studies.
Customer service is a key element of this role, therefore you will need strong interpersonal communication skills and demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
