Why we need you
We are seeking a passionate and motivated individual to join the team in Main Roads where you will provide a proficient Employee Relations consultancy service to Senior and Executive Management on matters relating to the management of Employee Relations strategies, planning, negotiation and resolution of claims and disputes.
You will be a key member of the team providing an employee relations consultancy service, with a focus on:
- Engagement across the business at all levels including senior management teams, project and contract management teams and our contracting partners.
- Managing project teams, external consultants and contractors.
- Assisting with the development, alignment and implementation of Employee Relations Strategy and Plans with a focus on proactive and innovative options and approaches.
- Maintaining awareness of Employee Relations risks across Main Roads to initiate early interventions before issues and problems become irreconcilable.
- Collaborating professionally with team members, and other Human Resource Branches, and external agencies to ensure you are up-to-date with Government Policies and programs affecting Main Roads.
About the role
To be successful in this role you will have considerable skill, knowledge and experience in contemporary employee relations with a strong focus on delivering employee relations outcomes in a large and complex organisation.
Your ability to research, analyse and provide advice to management, employees and unions including in conflict situations over employee relations matters, will be critical to your success in this role.
Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to interact effectively and build and maintain relationships with senior management and other key stakeholders is essential.

- Interpretation of Industrial Awards, Agreements, Legislation and other regulatory instruments along with being able to provide advice and solutions to management, employees and unions, sometimes in conflict situations.
