About the Role
This is a full-time Fixed Term position for a period of up to 12 months (with the possibility of extension). The most competitive applicant will be offered the position as an Expression of Interest, secondment opportunity or Fixed Term Contract depending on their circumstances.
This role is a Main Roads Western Australia position but will require the successful applicant to be based at the Office of Government Architect.
The Senior Urban Designer will provide strategic urban design advice and technical support to Main Roads to facilitate good design quality outcomes within our infrastructure delivery program. This includes;
- providing urban design advice in the planning, development, design, procurement and delivery of road and rail projects
- collaborate with Main Roads project managers
- facilitate design reviews
- undertake design research
- assist with community and stakeholder consultation
About You
The successful applicant will require a Degree in Architecture, or Landscape Architecture, or Urban Design and have experience in major state infrastructure projects (experience in road and rail infrastructure projects is desirable).
Substantial skill and experience in negotiation and facilitation is also essential to this role as well as a natural ability to work with a range of people and stakeholders to build positive working relationships.

Submitting Your Application

- A comprehensive CV demonstrating relevant skills and abilities within the context of the Job Role Statement
- A copy of your Degree in Architecture, or Landscape Architecture, or Urban Design
- A copy of your current Western Australian motor vehicle (car) Driver’s Licence or an approved equivalent
- A statement outlining your substantial skill, knowledge and experience in the following three (3) criteria in no more than three (3) pages;
- Road infrastructure project review for alignment with State planning policies
- Road and public realm design, planning and development
- Building and enhancing stakeholder relationships

Additional Information
The successful applicant will be required to complete a Pre-Employment Medical Questionnaire prior to appointment.
