Byford Secondary College (SC) is seeking a committed and effective leader to join our college’s senior leadership team in the role of Program Coordinator - Student Services.
Working within our dedicated Student Services Hub - The successful applicant will be a dynamic and innovative team-oriented leader who has outstanding interpersonal, organisational and communication skills with the ability to create and maintain strong working relationships.
As Program Coordinator - Student Services you will have a focus on the development of a safe, positive and caring learning environment that will improve student outcomes. The successful applicant will possess the ability to develop, implement and evaluate policies, plans and programs relevant to the functions of the Student Services team.
You will display a sound understanding of the case management of educationally at-risk students that includes knowledge of effective intervention, monitoring and reporting strategies. There is an associated responsibility to establish and manage administrative and operational systems in the relevant area of responsibility, in order to ensure the effective operation of your portfolio, within the College in accordance with Departmental policy and guidelines.
With responsibility for two year groups, you will be a leader who is focussed on supporting student success through a positive approach to student health and wellbeing. You will work closely with other Student Services Managers and members of the Student Services Hub to build and maintain a cohesive team. The team is instrumental in building a positive college culture for students, staff and parents.

Byford SC is an Independent Public School located on Abernethy Road in Byford approximately 30 kilometres from the Perth CBD. Our College provides for the secondary education needs of students from Byford and the surrounding communities. Byford SC has become a focal point for secondary education provision for students with disabilities with our inclusion facilities. Byford SC's motto, ‘Aspire to Excellence’ clearly articulates our vision of being the secondary school of choice for the local community, which provides a comprehensive suite of subjects from Year 7 through 12.
Byford SC has an established BYOD (iPads) program and a strong focus on Information Communication Technology (ICT) and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). The successful applicant will be required to embrace 21st century learning practices and participate in leading innovation and change to pedagogy. The College offers an academic extension program for students by selection, in partnership with the University of Western Australia. This ‘Aspire’ program provides these students with access to the university's staff and facilities to enhance their learning experience. Teachers with the ability to effectively differentiate instruction to improve student outcomes and challenge students to achieve at the highest level would be highly regarded.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage physical and financial resources.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
