The Auditor General is a critical statutory and integrity role serving the public interest by improving public sector performance and accountability for state and local government entities.
The Office of the Auditor General is a key source of independent and objective information for Parliament and the community on public sector efficiency and effectiveness and whether the community receives value for its tax dollars.

The Assistant Auditor General Financial Audit:
- leads and builds professional capability across the largest OAG division, playing a significant contributing role in organisational culture and performance
- designs and directs the strategic implementation of contemporary policies, practices and procedures in attest auditing operations for all local and state government entities in accordance with professional standards
- advises the Auditor General, Chief Executive Officers, local government and senior public sector stakeholders, and public practice partners in relation to assurance services
- directs examination and benchmarking of the effectiveness of local and state government entities’ financial and management control and compliance with legislation and government imperatives
- works collaboratively with internal, professional, public sector and ACAG stakeholders.
This position also has delegated authority to sign specified audit opinions and certifications.

This position will be offered as a 5 year fixed term contract, with an option to renew.
The successful candidate will ideally be available to start no later than 30 June 2021.
