Traffic Escort Warden
Why Work With Us?
We are one of the largest geographically spread road agencies in the world, responsible for more than 18,500 kilometres of road spread over 2.5 million square kilometres.
Our role is to plan, build and maintain Western Australia’s State Road Network valued at just over $46 billion. We work closely with our portfolio partners, Department of Transport and Public Transport Authority, as well as local government to support the needs of all road users across the state by providing an integrated world-class road transport network.
As an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to attracting and retaining a culturally diverse workforce and in line with our commitment to improve diversity, we strongly encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, women, people from culturally diverse backgrounds and people with disabilities to apply.
About the Role
Heavy Vehicle Services Directorate (HVS) is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient and sustainable heavy vehicle access to the Western Australian road network. Our role is to achieve objectives for road safety, transport efficiency, community amenity and preservation of the state’s road asset. At HVS we work with state and national transport industry groups, individual operators, government bodies, regional areas and other key departments across Main Roads.
Main Roads is currently seeking to create a pool of suitably skilled Traffic Escort Wardens. Applicants found suitable for the role will initially be placed in a pool that will operate for up to 12 months. Applicants will then be appointed to roles as required.
The Traffic Escort Wardens play a critical role in HVS, working across the state in various metropolitan and regional areas to provide on-road escort control of high-risk Over Size Over Mass (OSOM) vehicles. In this role you will travel with OSOM vehicles and ensure compliance with the relevant processes, procedures, policies, regulations and approved permit, whilst ensuring the safety of all road users and minimising the disruption to traffic flows and the public.
This role will involve extensive travel and will require you to be working away from the metropolitan area for the duration of the roster. To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate experience in escorting OSOM vehicles, the ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation and policies, and the ability to work well with others and build relationships with transport operators.
Please note that the hours of work and annual wage for this role are currently under review.
Should you wish to build your future and grow as a person and a professional, think about a career with Main Roads Western Australia. If you possess the skills and this position interests you we encourage you to apply.
