Byford Secondary College (SC) is seeking to appoint a highly motivated and experienced Mathematics teacher, with a commitment to excellence in teaching and learning.
The successful applicant will desirably have experience teaching Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) Mathematics, as well as possess the ability to work collaboratively with the team to build capacity in the effective delivery of Senior School Mathematics Courses.
We are seeking a teacher who is highly reflective about their teaching practice and with a commitment to evidence based decision-making. Applicants require knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum and ideally, experience in leading other staff in the delivery and review of pedagogy and Year 7-12 Mathematics teaching programs. Applicants will desirably possess the professional knowledge, practices and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant secondary school curriculum using a positive, student-focused approach. Previous success working with students across a range of ability levels will be highly regarded. Applicants need to be willing to commit to developing shared practices that align with College priorities. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a willingness to liaise with colleagues, parents and external networks to establish strong community partnerships are also required to successfully undertake this role.
Byford SC is an Independent Public School located on Abernethy Road in Byford approximately 30 kilometres from the Perth CBD. Our College provides for the secondary education needs of students from Byford and the surrounding communities. Byford SC has become a focal point for secondary education provision for students with disabilities with our inclusion facilities. Byford SC's motto, ‘Aspire to Excellence’ clearly articulates our vision of being the secondary school of choice for the local community which provides a comprehensive suite of subjects from Year 7 through 12.
Byford SC has an established BYOD (iPads) program and a strong focus on Information Communication Technology (ICT) and Science, Technologies, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). The successful applicant will be required to embrace 21st century learning practices and participate in leading innovation and change to pedagogy. The College offers an academic extension program for students by selection, in partnership with the University of Western Australia. This ‘Aspire’ program provides these students with access to the university's staff and facilities to enhance their learning experience. Teachers with a demonstrated ability to effectively differentiate instruction to improve student outcomes and challenge students to achieve at the highest level would be highly regarded.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
