Opening in November 2020, the stunning new Western Australian Museum will share the stories of our people and places. It will be a gateway for visitors to explore the wonders of Western Australia, from the Kimberley to the Great Southern, and all the places in between. The Museum has been created with a ‘people first approach’, which means it will feature Western Australians from all walks of life, sharing their stories in their own voices. It also means that all visitors should enjoy a wonderful, personal experience.
The Western Australian Museum is a vibrant centre of inspiration, learning and enjoyment for everyone. It preserves, documents and shares collections relating to the State’s natural and cultural heritage. It collaborates with people across Western Australia to share the stories and voices of diverse communities. It works alongside national and international organisations, contributing to global research, promoting life-long learning, and developing and hosting world-class exhibitions.
The Learning and Engagement team develop, deliver and evaluate programs and experiences that engage audiences with the Western Australian Museum. The team is at the forefront of public engagement, delivering a diverse suite of programs that facilitate meaningful visitor experiences. This includes programming for schools and education audiences, early childhood, children and families and the public. The team is dynamic and engaged, creating programming the reflects and promotes the Museum as a cultural hub and centre of lifelong learning.
We are currently advertising the following vacancies:
Level 4 - Learning and Engagement Officer – Western Australian Museum Boola Bardip
This is a full-time fixed term vacancy for 12 months, maternity leave backfill available for immediate appointment with the possibility of extension. Section 51 of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 applies to this position 13630. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are encouraged to apply.
Level 4 - Learning and Engagement Officer – Western Australian Museum Boola Bardip
This is a part-time (0.6 FTE 22.5 hours per week) permanent vacancy that will be filled in early January 2021.
Level 4 - Learning and Engagement Officer – WA Maritime Museum and WA Shipwrecks Museum
This is a full-time permanent vacancy that will be filled in early January 2021
Conditions
The Western Australian Museum is committed to growing the Aboriginal Workforce and as measure to achieve equality, Section 51 of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 applies to position 13630.
There will also be a Pool running for a period of 24 months from the initial appointment. Applicants deemed suitable will be placed into a pool where appointments may be considered for similar vacancies for full-time, part-time, permanent, fixed term or casual. Section 51 will not apply to pool appointments.
Successful applicants will be required to provide a current (within 6 months) National Police Clearance Certificate. Additionally, a Working with Children Clearance will be required before beginning employment.

Job Description
The Learning and Engagement Officer’s role is to develop, implement, deliver and evaluate high quality learning and engagement programs, experiences and resources relating to the Western Australian Museum. For this purpose, the Learning and Engagement Officer is required to become familiar with the content and exhibitions and collections in the Museum.
The Learning and Engagement Officer plans an active part in the creation and implementation of visitor experiences which enhance the Museum visit, from concept to production, as well as the training of Museum staff and volunteers for delivery of these experiences.
