The position
In this role you will be working as part of Legal Services Branch B, providing strategic and operational legal services to the WorkSafe Western Australia Commissioner and the WorkSafe operational directorates of the Safety Regulation Group for the purpose of helping to ensure that workplaces in Western Australia are free of work-related death, injury and disease.
As Senior Legal Officer, you will appear as counsel for the Department, including as lead counsel in significant hearings and trials before court and tribunals. You are also responsible for reviewing processes, policy, templates, investigative powers and methodology.
You will possess the interpersonal skills to consult and negotiate with key stakeholders on legal policy and matters, as well as assisting in the coaching and mentoring of less experienced legal officers.
This position is located in Cannington (however, may be required to work at other sites as required).
What do you require to successfully undertake the role?
- Degree in Law and admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Western Australia OR Legal Practitioner from outside of the State whose qualifications for admission in Western Australia have been approved by the Legal Practice board.
- Demonstrated experience in court appearances, processes and procedures.
- Demonstrated experience in providing high level legal advice on a broad range of complex legal matters.
