Area Profile: The North Metropolitan Health Service (NMHS) provides timely access to high quality health care, embracing acknowledged best practice to deliver improved clinical outcomes in the face of rising challenges for all healthcare providers. The NMHS comprises a mix of tertiary, specialist and generalist hospitals.  Our north metropolitan catchment area covers almost 1,000 square kilometers. Position Profile: We are seeking to appoint a dynamic, suitably experienced and skilled industrial relations practitioner to join the Workforce team. This critical leadership position will report directly to the Area Director Workforce and lead the industrial relations function, encompassing a broad and varied workforce and an associated range of complex industrial instruments and Awards.

As the Director Industrial Relations you will work across the NMHS to ensure a professional and responsive industrial relations consultancy service is provided. You will also be responsible for assuring that the function operates effectively within associated regulatory and policy frameworks, public sector policies, legislation and that it aligns with the strategic direction established at a system level.

We are looking for a candidate with demonstrated experience in leading a customer focused, high quality service with the ability to lead and develop a team of practitioners. It is anticipated that you will have significant senior leadership and management experience gained within a complex industrial relations environment, as well as strong influencing and negotiating skills and relevant experience providing innovative and strategic IR advice to a broad range of stakeholders and staff. You will have a track record leading a high quality customer focused industrial relations team as well as in providing associated industrial relations advisory services. Extensive experience managing the representation of employment law and industrial relations matters before the relevant tribunals will also be essential.
