This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 3, 2020
Rossmoyne Senior High School (SHS) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Cleaner in Charge to join their friendly team.
As the successful applicant you will be responsible for the internal cleaning duties throughout the day, including the following:
- maintenance of carpets and hard floor surfaces
- toilet cleaning
- cleaning of furniture and fittings
- window cleaning
- dusting
- rubbish removal; and
- other items of general cleaning.
You will carry out external cleaning duties, including the following:
- cleaning of verandas and covered areas
- rubbish removal
- cleaning of drinking fountains
- window cleaning; and
- removal of cobwebs.
You will work independently and liaise with the line manager about cleaning matters. You will need to remain up to date with relevant cleaning techniques and equipment. You would also be responsible for highlighting issues and concerns on behalf of cleaners and respond to issues raised by other staff.
The successful applicant will ideally have a high level of initiative, good interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills, as well as exceptional organisational skills. The successful applicant should be motivated, and possess the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team as well as independently.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Employees will be required to:
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- Complete the Department’s online training in manual tasks and hazardous substances within three months of commencement
- Complete Fundamentals of Cleaning training as soon as practicable
- Complete any other training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
