Byford Secondary College (SC) is seeking to appoint a dedicated Teacher – Education Support to join their friendly team.
The successful applicant will be required to manage class teams and liaise with parents and therapists to meet the educational and care needs of the students. Applicants who are passionate about teaching in an education support environment are encouraged to apply. You will possess outstanding interpersonal skills and have an ability to build effective working relationships with students, parents, staff and the wider college community. An ability to teach Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network (ASDAN), Workplace Learning, Enterprise Learning, Big Plan (Person Centred Planning), Vocational Education Training (VET) and Certificate Courses is highly desirable. Willingness or experience in teaching/supporting hydrotherapy programs is advantageous.
The successful applicant will support the implementation of the college business plan, to work and teach in a team environment, be committed to whole college approaches and initiatives and have a strong evidence based approach to teaching. The learning environment that you create will be caring, differentiated, challenging and to cater for the needs which will see all students learning and progressing. As Teacher of Inclusion and Education Support your ability and willingness to collaborate with other teaching staff who support Special Educational Needs (SEN) students accessing The Australian Curriculum will be encouraged.
At Byford SC every teacher has a role in developing strong and respectful relationships and effective curriculum delivery. Working collaboratively, you will implement and support whole school policies, processes and procedures, embedding a culture of professionalism, and collegial trust. The successful applicant will have strong teaching and classroom management skills. You will also have a sound understanding of the developmental needs of students at all phases of the Western Australian Curriculum and will be skilled in differentiating and where necessary developing an alternate curriculum for SEN students.
As a new secondary College with a focus on Information Computer Technology and an established BYOD (iPads) program, the successful applicant will be required to embrace 21st century learning practices and participate in leading innovation and change to pedagogy. The College offers an academic extension program for students by selection, in partnership with the University of Western Australia. This program, titled Aspire, provides students at Byford SC with access to the university's staff and facilities to enhance their learning experience. This partnership also provides our teaching staff with access to professional learning opportunities.
Byford SC is an Independent Public School approximately 30 kilometres from the Perth CBD. The College opened in 2014 and currently has a cohort of over 1400 Year 7 to 12 students with annual growth in student enrolments. Our College provides for the secondary education needs of students from Byford and the surrounding communities. Byford SC has become a focal point for secondary education provision for students with disabilities with our inclusion facilities. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
