Project Contract Manager

About the Role
This is a full-time fixed term position for a period of up to 36 months with the possibility of extension. The most competitive applicant will be offered the position as an expression of interest, secondment opportunity or fixed term contract depending on their circumstances.
As a Project Contract Manager, you will be responsible for managing the scoping, project development, design, delivery and review of the projects along with preparation of contract documentation and manage the contract tending process. Once the contracts are in place you will manage their delivery contracts, to ensure works are completed to approved scope, budget, time, and quality and report on performance.
In this position, you will be responsible for the Western Australian section of the Outback Way. The route is approximately 2800 kilometres, extending between Laverton in Western Australia to Winton in Queensland. The Western Australian section of the route (Great Central Road) is 860 kilometres between Laverton and the WA/NT border. The Great Central Road managed by two local governments, Laverton and Ngaanyatjarraku is predominantly unsealed.
You will be required to manage project resources including financial, technological, physical and other resources. There will be a high emphasis on your ability to manage, consult, liaise and negotiate with a range of stakeholders in particular local government, indigenous communities and local businesses to deliver project outcomes.
Salary and Regional Incentives/Benefits
In addition to the salary, the following regional initiatives/benefits are also provided to a new employee:
- 9.5% employer superannuation contribution.
- Regional Commuted Overtime Allowance of 13.5% (based on an additional 3.45 hours worked per week).
- Project specific ability to work additional overtime depending on contractor work cycle arrangements.
- District Allowance, currently set at $2354 per annum.
- Additional subsidies – air-conditioning, gas/electric hot water, telephone subsidy.
- A relocation allowance may be available to the successful applicant.
- Accommodation will be provided when working away from your base location
- Main Roads will provide housing in Kalgoorlie at a subsidised rate consistent with the Government Regional Officer Housing scheme.

About You
To be successful in this role you will need to be experienced in directly managing road construction projects, preferably in remote locations, and have comprehensive project and contract management and stakeholder management skills. As our organisation is committed to providing the community with excellent customer service and an efficient road network, you will need to demonstrate your ability in building effective working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and ambitious person to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess substantial skill, knowledge and experience in one or more of road and/or bridge, design, construction and maintenance. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills and experience will be highly regarded. Self-motivation, initiative and broader communication and negotiation skills are also essential for you to perform in this role.
