An opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic office all rounder to join our team in Geraldton. The Midwest & Gascoyne Regional office is staffed by four lawyers (including one lawyer based in Carnarvon), supported by three administration/paralegal positions.
About the role
As an Administration Officer/Paralegal you will perform a range of administrative and secretarial responsibilities, coupled with paralegal duties. You will be primarily interacting with customers at their first point of contact with Legal Aid WA, both in person and over the phone. This is where your ability to deal with customers with complex legal and social needs will be most valued. You will be required to discern customer's legal and social issues and make the appropriate referrals. Duties will include a range of administrative tasks including but not limited to data entry, appointment bookings, completing and entering legal aid applications.
About you
Ideally you will have:
- a background in customer service
- experience working as part of a team
- the ability to contribute positively to a small team
- well developed communication and interpersonal skills
- strong knowledge of Microsoft Office
- a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- word processing and data entry skills
Previous experience in a legal setting is desirable.
