ABOUT THE ROLE
We are currently looking to establish a pool of suitable applicants for qualified experienced and enthusiastic Environmental Officers (Urban Water), Specified Calling Levels 2 and 3 to maintain a detailed scientific knowledge of urban water management, water sensitive urban design and drainage planning approaches in Western Australia.
In the Urban Water Branch, Environmental Officers provide detailed scientific analysis and advice on water resource management to ensure our approach to management of water in the urban landscape and natural water systems is based on leading science and modern practices. Environmental Officers use scientific analysis of often complex water resource management issues to lead the development of plans, guidance, standards, policy and approaches for water resource management in the urban context. Environmental Officer maintain a detailed knowledge of water resource management approaches and advocate, influence and negotiate for outcomes as they relate to the department’s approach to water sensitive urban design, liveability and urban drainage planning.

- Evidence of relevant qualification.

Successful candidates may be offered work in a variety of metropolitan and regional locations. Positions may be part or full time on a permanent or fixed term basis. The pool remains valid for a period of twelve (12) months.
Please note that successful applicants may be considered for appointment to similar vacancies that arise within the DWER for the duration of the pool on a fixed term or permanent basis, with the possibility of extension or permanency.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach claim period. Under breach provisions, applicants may lodge a formal application of review at the point where a decision is made to establish the pool. Applications for review cannot be made with respect to the matter of placement from the pool or the appointment process.
