Senior Environment Officer

About the Role
Main Roads Western Australia is committed to responsible environmental management of the WA road network. The Environment Branch provides leadership, systems, processes and standards that drive corporate environmental and heritage performance. The team works with Main Roads’ project development, delivery, regional and metropolitan branches to undertake environmental impact assessments, obtain approvals and ensure environmental management meets legislative requirements and organisational objectives.
We are looking for two (2) senior specialists for the operational section of our environmental team. The role manages environmental assessment and approvals for our projects, provides expert advice to one or more regions and ensures compliance with corporate and statutory environmental requirements.
Consultation and negotiation with regulators and external stakeholders as well as providing guidance to internal stakeholders are essential components of the role. Your contribution is important in facilitating the successful delivery of our business and help drive our environmental performance.
This role is based in Perth with regional travel where required.
About You
As a passionate and qualified Environmental professional, you will possess substantial skill, knowledge and experience in environmental assessment, approval and management and will have demonstrated experience in the application of State and Federal legislation relating to environmental issues and processes.
Experience in environmental management, assessment and approvals for linear infrastructure would be highly regarded.
As our customers are important to us, your ability to develop positive, proactive and professional relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders is critical to your success in this role, along with your excellent project and contract management skills.
Capability in successfully managing resources (including people) will also ensure the successful delivery of projects and outcomes required for the role.

2. A copy of your current Western Australian motor vehicle (car) Driver’s Licence or an approved equivalent

4. A statement outlining your substantial skill, knowledge and experience in the following four (4) criteria in no more than one (1) page per criteria;
- Environmental assessment, approval and management
- Application of relevant State and Federal legislation

- Building and enhancing stakeholder relationships
