About the Role
Main Roads Western Australia is committed to responsible environmental management of the WA road network. The Environment Branch provides leadership, systems, processes and standards that drive corporate environmental and heritage performance. The team works with Main Roads’ project development, delivery, regional and metropolitan branches to undertake environmental impact assessments, obtain approvals and ensure environmental management meets legislative requirements and organisational objectives.
As an Environment Officer, you will be responsible for providing environmental and heritage advice and supporting the successful delivery of roadwork programs and network management in one or more of our regions.
You will also be responsible for providing specialist advice and direction to region/s on environmental issues and ensure compliance with corporate and statutory environmental requirements.
You will play an important part in Main Roads environmental performance and the successful delivery of our business across the State.
This role is based in Perth with regional travel where required.
About You
As a passionate, qualified and experienced Environmental professional, you will possess considerable skill, knowledge and experience in environmental assessment, approval and management and will have demonstrated experience in the application of State and Federal legislation relating to environmental issues and processes.
Experience in environmental management, assessment and approvals for linear infrastructure will be highly regarded.
As our customers are important to us, your ability to develop positive, proactive and professional relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders is critical to your success in this role as well as experience in project and contract management.

2. A copy of your current Western Australian motor vehicle (car) Driver’s Licence or an approved equivalent
3. A comprehensive CV demonstrating your relevant skills and abilities within the context of the Job Role Statement.
4. A statement outlining your considerable skill, knowledge and experience in the following four (4) criteria in no more than one (1) page per criteria;
- Environmental assessment, approval and management
- Application of relevant State and Federal legislation
- Project and contract management
- Building and enhancing stakeholder relationships
All selection criteria listed above, and in the Job Role Statement have equal weighting and will be tested throughout the selection process.

Additional Information
This is a pool recruitment process. A number of vacancies are available at this time. A pool of suitable but not recommended applicants will operate for up to 12 months and appointed to available positions as required.
