Road Planned Interventions Officer
About the Role
In response to the growing concern around congestion, Main Roads Western Australia created the Network Operations Directorate. This Directorate is focused on becoming a world-class road network operator through developing improved capability in order to better manage congestion and deliver on the exciting new challenges ahead.
As part of this Directorate, the Road Planned Interventions team is responsible for responding to and coordinating planned interventions across the Perth Metropolitan Region. The team ensures that effective traffic management solutions are implemented to minimise disruption of planned events and major capital works to road users.
Main Roads is currently seeking two Road Planned Interventions Officers to join the Road Planned Interventions team. The focus of the role is to review and recommend for approval traffic management proposals for planned events and major road works, and provide specialist support for monitoring the efficiency and safety of the road network.
Two positions are currently available, however a ‘pool’ of suitable applicants will be established through this recruitment process and will operate for up to 12 months. Applicants may be appointed to roles as required.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have considerable experience in traffic management planning and practices for roadworks, including traffic signals and network analysis. You will have sound knowledge of traffic engineering principles and practices, as well as knowledge of project and contract management. You will possess well developed investigation, analysis and problem solving skills in relation to traffic management.
The Road Planned Interventions Officers will provide advice on traffic management and congestion issues to internal and external stakeholders. Experience in building and enhancing stakeholder relationships and good written communication will therefore be critical to the role.

Please submit evidence of your current motor vehicle driver’s licence and if applicable to you, a Diploma in Civil Engineering and/or Worksite Traffic Management Accreditation. Applicants selected for appointment will need to provide originals prior to appointment.

The successful applicants will be required to complete a pre-employment medical assessment prior to appointment.
