About the Role
We are currently seeking an experienced Project/Contract Manager for our Wheatbelt Region based in our award winning and modern office in Northam. The role will manage the project planning and development phase of larger, more complex infrastructure projects including input into the development of planning studies, specialist-planning advice to Local government and other agencies. The role will be responsible for the management and reporting on projects to identify time, budget and scope and on project resources including financial, human and procurement.
As part of our project team, you will develop projects concepts, scope of works including technical investigations such as environmental, and heritage clearances, land dealings, road building materials, road and bridge design and stakeholder acceptance. In addition you will need to prepare contract documentation and manage the contract tendering process, and ensure that contract are completed to approved scope, budget, time and quality.
The role will also be responsible to undertake consultation, liaison and negotiation with stakeholders (customers, the community, other agencies, Local Government, contractors, consultants) on the development and delivery of projects and contracts. The role will also undertake delegated contract management duties as appointed e.g. Superintendents Representative.
Salary and Regional Incentives/Benefits
The position attracts a base salary of between $106,115 per annum and $125,200 per annum depending on the year appointed to the Level 6 range and the option of hours worked per week – either 37.5 or 40 hour. In addition to this base salary, the following regional initiatives/benefits are also available to a new employee:
- 9.5% employer superannuation contribution.
- Regional Allowance of 9% (based on an additional 2.5 hours worked per week)
- Additional subsidies – gas/electric hot water, telephone subsidy.
- Main Roads may provide housing in Northam at a subsidised rate consistent with the Government Regional Officer Housing scheme.

About You
We are seeking a candidate with substantial experience in successfully managing multiple projects and contracts including human and financial resources within project deadlines. As Main Roads is committed to providing the community with excellent customer service and an efficient road network, you will need to demonstrate your ability to communicate at all levels and foster strong working relationships and interfaces with a range of stakeholders.
Substantial negotiation, facilitation and problem solving experience will also be critical for you to succeed in this role.
