ABOUT THE ROLE
The Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DWER) is a dynamic agency and is committed to supporting Western Australia’s community, economy and environment by managing and regulating the state’s environment and water resources.
The Department is seeking an experienced Compliance Officer to join the Compliance and Enforcement Directorate in our Waste Operations Branch. This is a permanent position within the Department.
The primary function of this position is to contribute to achieving waste sector compliance within jurisdictions of legislation administered by the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation which includes; the Environmental Protection Act 1986, Contaminated Sites Act 2003 and Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Act 2007, and identifying potential breaches.
The Compliance Officer engages with the waste sector through site inspections and monitoring of reporting requirements, ensures licensees are aware of complying with their statutory obligations.
