It's a critical job, being a Railcar Driver. You are responsible for the safe and prompt transport of our customers to their various destinations, operating electric suburban railcars in either single or multiple consists throughout the urban rail network.
We are looking for applicants who are able to undertake all the training and assessments required to successfully operate electric suburban trains. To be successful to the Railcar Driver pool you will need basic mechanical or technical ability with literacy and numeracy skills. You will be a good communicator with proven customer service skills who can work well in a team environment.
If you meet these requirements, you may be selected to our pool of suitable applicants. The pool will operate for a period of 12 months and, as vacancies arise, offers may be made to attend training.
If you are selected from the pool and offered a position you will undertake a 25-week training period as a Trainee Railcar Driver.
Being a Railcar Driver means that you will be required to work shift work and weekend work as required, with irregular start and finish times. You may also be temporarily required to work at various locations other than where assigned.

These 1-hour sessions will be held at the PTC Theatrette - Public Transport Centre, 116 West Parade East Perth on the following dates:
- 5.30pm – Tuesday, 20 August 2019
- 9.30am – Saturday, 24 August 2019
First come first served, so please arrive early to secure a seat.
Please note you must be available to attend the following stages in person:
- Aptitude Testing: 1 – 3 October 2019
- Psychologist Interview 27 November – 3 December 2019
- Medical Assessment 16 – 17 December 2019

- What is your mechanical or technical ability? We are looking for people who have the basic aptitude to learn the practical aspects of operating a train and diagnosing faults.
