Planning Assessment Officer

The Planning Assessment Officer role is part of our Road Planning and Development Team that is responsible for the delivery of road planning, network development, network definition and project development services across the Perth Metropolitan State road network.
About the Role
We have an opportunity available for a planning professional to join our team to undertake the important role of assessing and co-ordinating the assessment of planning applications referred to Main Roads.
This role provides specialist support on planning matters to internal and external stakeholders, including statutory planning referral enquires and issues. Development and maintenance of systems, standards, guidelines as well as the preparation, storage and retrieval of road planning information are also key requirements of the role.
The Planning Assessment Officer participates in formal planning forums such as the Joint Development Assessment Panel, State Administrative Tribunal and working groups.
About You
We are looking for a highly organised and motivated person with excellent time management and computer literacy skills. Experience in planning information systems and statutory and strategic planning is essential as well as a keen eye for detail.
As our customers are important to us, you will need to demonstrate the ability to build relationships with a range of stakeholders, including those internal to Main Roads, external (other State Government agencies, Local Government Authorities) and the community.
Ability to embrace change and adapt your skills and technical expertise to changing situations and events will be a great benefit to you.

- One or more of road planning, or transport planning, or statutory planning, or strategic planning, or road design, or traffic engineering, or land administration
- Building and enhancing stakeholder relationships
- Knowledge of statutory planning process
If applicable to you, please attach a copy of your Diploma in Civil or Structural Engineering, or Planning, or other related discipline.

Additional Information
The successful applicant will be required to compete a pre-employment medical questionnaire prior to appointment.
