Term of the Government Appointment
If you have an interest in providing environmental policy advice to senior levels within Government, you should apply for this position.
This is a full-time, fixed term appointment in accordance with section 68 of the Public Sector Management Act 1994 - Employment of Ministerial Offices for the Term of the Government with a probationary period of three (3) months. Permanent public sector employees will be considered on a secondment or acting basis so please check with your Department and/or Supervisor for possible release prior to submitting your application.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment dealing with a range of interesting and complex public policy issues associated with the environment, working in the Minister for Environment’s office.
In this role, you will be responsible for advanced policy development, analysis, monitoring and advice on complex and contentious issues relating to the Minister’s portfolio responsibilities. The Senior Policy Adviser will consult with the Minister, plan and coordinate strategies to manage policy priorities and develop strategies for acceptance of policy initiatives in Cabinet, Parliament, the community and by stakeholders. Be prepared for a fast paced, diverse and high volume workload.
A background in environmental management/science would be an advantage.
