About the Role (Four 4 positions available)
Applications are sought for a permanent Technical Officer Materials at Level 1 or Level 2 or 3 or 4 in our Pilbara, Goldfields-Esperance and Wheatbelt Regions and a Level 1 or Level 2 or Level 3 in our Mid-West Gascoyne Region.
This role involves a combination of physical and mechanical laboratory, field and on road sampling and testing of soils, aggregates and concrete associated with road and bridge design and construction. You will assist the Materials Manager in providing advice to Asset and Project Management staff on materials standards and the workmanship required in maximising the performance of materials to construct road pavements and surfaces.
You will maintain records of materials location, characteristics and testing and install, calibrate and operate field and laboratory instruments and equipment. Additionally, you will be required to assist Project and Contract Managers with the review of design briefs and of consultant and contractor materials performance.
About You
As a competent Technical Officer, you will demonstrate experience in locating, extracting, sampling, testing, auditing and reporting on the suitability and quality of materials for road construction and maintenance. You will need strong interpersonal skills to build effective working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders. Effective problem solving skills and the ability to work within schedules and deadlines is also a key requirement of the role.

- NATA requirements and quality management principles including auditing
Selection criteria to be addressed for Level 3:
- Evidence of your Diploma in Laboratory Technology
- Broad range of geotechnical and civil construction materials testing
- Broad range of road construction and maintenance materials
- NATA requirements and quality management principles including auditing
Selection criteria to be addressed for Level 4:
- Evidence of your Advanced Diploma in Laboratory Operations
- Broad range of construction and geotechnical materials testing
- Broad range of road construction and maintenance materials, including testing and identification of suitable naturally occurring materials
- Road construction, rehabilitation and maintenance techniques and methods
- Laboratory management systems, standards and test methods, including NATA requirements and quality management principles
