Environmental Officer
(Multiple Positions)


Are you passionate about Environmental Regulation?

If you said ‘yes’, then you may be one of the dedicated Environmental Officers we are looking for to form part of our team.

We are seeking 10 x Specified Calling Level 2 Environmental Officers to join our Resource and Environmental Compliance Division.

The position

In this role, you will undertake environmental assessments of detailed and/or complex mining/petroleum applications, and native vegetation clearing applications as required under limited supervision. Additionally, you will provide specialist/technical advice to the department’s Executive, minerals and energy sector, general public and industry organisations in relation to environmental legislation and policies.

Your ability to multi-task, strong communication skills and ability to liaise with a wide range of stakeholders and clients will be central to your success. Drawing on your knowledge and experience in environmental management, you will confidently carry out your duties and assist in coaching other staff members as required.

This position is located in East Perth.

What do you require to successfully undertake the role?

  • A Bachelor of Environmental Science or Natural Resource Management Degree, or an approved equivalent degree;
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in environmental management including the assessment of environmental aspects and risks associated with mining and/or petroleum development activities; and
  • Experience in preparing reports on environmental assessments, investigations and/or analytical research.

Please note that completion of a National Police Clearance, Pre-Employment Medical Assessment (including baseline hearing test), “C” Class Drivers Licence and pre-employment Conflict of Interest Declaration, will also form part of the selection process.
