The Forest Products Commission (FPC) is a Statutory Authority and is responsible for managing commercial operations in Western Australia’s native forest and plantation estate. The FPC supplies forest products to local processing industries and export markets. The FPC also provides advice to, and develops policy for, government on issues relating to forest management, products and services.

Job Description
The Manager Fire Protection is responsible for the development and efficient delivery of fire protection objectives across the FPC. The incumbent is responsible for oversight and direction of fire suppression and mitigation services provided to the FPC by the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) and development of FPC’s internal fire management capacity. The Manager Fire Protection will liaise with other agencies and industry bodies as required to ensure that FPC’s interests are recognised and reflected in planning and response processes.
Work related requirements
To be successful for this role you must have:
Essential:
1. Tertiary qualifications in Forestry or Environmental Management (or similar) and relevant experience in forest and fire management OR Extensive experience in forest and fire management including significant knowledge of fire and its interrelationship with forest management.
2. Demonstrated extensive experience in fire management roles including suppression and prescribed burning.
3. Demonstrated interpersonal skills with the ability to work cooperatively with others at all levels, including skills in consultation and negotiation.
4. Demonstrated ability to analyse and develop innovative solutions to complex problems.
5. Well developed written and verbal communication skills
6. Demonstrated adequate competence and physical fitness to effectively undertake specified fire related tasks either in operations or planning functions.
7. Knowledge of environmental management systems in relation to conducting management reviews, monitoring and implementing effective corrective and preventative action.
8. Awareness of EEO principles.
9. Current motor vehicle drivers license.
