Who we are
The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development’s (DPIRD) purpose is to create enduring prosperity for all Western Australians. Our department ensures that primary industries and regions are key contributors to the Government’s agenda for economic growth and diversification, job creation, strong communities and better places.
We work collaboratively across government, industry and community to advance three goals: Protect, Grow and Innovate.
For more information about the Department, please visit our website.
Through a partnership developed with the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation (JTSI), DPIRD has a significant role to play in delivering and maximising local content outcomes in regional Western Australia. This will be delivered through a network of Principal and Local Content Advisers in regional locations across the state. The Principal Local Content Advisers will support local businesses by connecting them to government supply opportunities, referrals to business support agencies, high level assistance in preparing industry participation plans and assistance for project managers in connecting them with local suppliers and workers.
We currently have two (2) fixed term full time Level 7 appointments available for an initial period of up to 30 June 2020 with the possibility of subsequent contracts and/or permanency. Applicants assessed as suitable, but not offered appointment to one of the available positions, will be placed into a recruitment pool which will be valid for 12 months and which may be used to fill permanent and fixed term opportunities in these or similar roles that may arise during this period.
Please note: being appointed to the pool does not guarantee you placement to a position.
As the Principal Local Content Adviser, you will coordinate the regional delivery of the department’s program to promote, encourage, develop and maximise local supplier, contractor and employment opportunities for regional businesses and jobseekers through effectively connecting relevant government, industry, businesses, Aboriginal corporations, employment and training stakeholders and other stakeholders. You will also support, guide and coordinate the activities of Local Content Advisers within your designated regional cluster in order to ensure the delivery of a consistent, professional and responsive program to support the government’s local content objectives.
There are three designated regional clusters Northern (Pilbara, Kimberley, Gascoyne), Central (Mid West, Goldfields-Esperance, Wheatbelt) and Southern (South West, Great Southern, Peel).
