About the Role
Main Roads Western Australia is committed to responsible environmental management of the WA road network. The Environment Branch provides leadership, systems, processes and standards that drive corporate environmental and heritage performance.
The Environment Branch works with all sectors within Main Roads’ including project development, delivery, operations, regional and metropolitan branches. Works involve undertaking environmental impact assessments, obtain approvals and ensure environmental management meets legislative requirements and organisational objectives.
As an Environment Officer, your primary role will be to develop, review and improve corporate elements of the Main Roads Environmental Management System and associated processes and standards. You will audit performance, co-ordinate corporate reporting and undertake projects to improve corporate performance. You may also be required to provide advice on environmental and heritage assessments, approvals and management for operational works.
About You
As a passionate and qualified Environmental professional, you will have considerable skill, knowledge and experience in environmental systems, processes and standards. You will be able to demonstrate your experience in the application of relevant state and federal legislation and in environmental impact assessment, approval and management. Your strong project development and management skills will be critical to this role and your ability to build collaborative working relationships across the organisation will see you succeed.

Submitting Your Application
Applicants are requested to submit a comprehensive CV demonstrating relevant skills and abilities within the context of the Job Role Statement.
Please also submit a statement outlining your substantial skill, knowledge and experience in the following three (3) criteria in no more than three (3) pages:
- Operation of environmental management systems, processes and standards
- Application of relevant State and Federal legislation
- Environmental impact assessment, approval and management
Please submit evidence of your current motor vehicle driver’s licence and a copy of your Bachelor of Science Degree (in a relevant discipline) or Degree in Environmental Management. For overseas qualifications, an Australian equivalency must be supplied. Originals will need to be presented upon appointment.

The successful applicant will be required to complete a pre-employment medical questionnaire as part of this recruitment process.
