The Statewide Services Division is seeking to recruit a highly motivated and committed Project Officer in the Road Safety and Drug Education Branch.
As the Project Officer you will provide administrative and logistic support to the branch, including support for professional learning programs and workshops, collation and maintenance of document management activities and effective and responsive administrative support to achieve the outcomes and objectives of the branch. In this role you will assist in preparing project plans, work instructions, processes, reports, support materials and monitoring systems in accordance with Department policies, standards and guidelines. In addition, you will coordinate data entry and management, monitor and report on key performance indicators and provide executive support to management meetings, planning initiatives and workshops.
The Road Safety and Drug Education Branch is a specialised centre of expertise delivering the SDERA program to public, Catholic and Independent schools. SDERA is the State Government’s primary strategy for road safety and drug education for young people. The program provides prevention education keeping children and young people safer. Program initiatives and resources target early childhood services providers and educators, school administrators, teachers, school support staff, parents/carers and the broader education community throughout Western Australia.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout the Directorate for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Skills and experience in providing administrative and project management support.
- Sound written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work within a team environment and liaise effectively with a wide range of individuals at all levels and in a variety of contexts.
- Well developed computer skills, including the ability to create, operate and manipulate databases and spreadsheets for reporting purposes.
- Initiative and sound organisational skills, including the ability to manage a diverse workload and meet competing deadlines.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance before commencing employment
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Department policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
