Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other "similar" vacancies throughout the health service. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised vacancy, then the next most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process. Both of these options remain valid for a period of six (6) months from when the authorised delegate endorses the recruitment decision.
Position Profile: This role requires a medical practitioner with extensive generalist experience, able to demonstrate significant emergency department and primary health care knowledge and skills. Suitable candidates will be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and either a Fellow of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) or Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practice (FRACGP), and hold formal postgraduate qualifications in anaesthetics with extensive experience in this specialty. The successful candidate must be able to practice without clinical supervision in this specialist area. Previous experience in a rural hospital setting is desirable.
The District Medical Officer Procedural Anaesthetics position provides comprehensive and high quality medical services to the Derby Hospital as well as to outreach clinics in the remote communities of Looma and Mowanjum. This position reports to and is supported by the Senior Medical Officer at each site. The District Medical Officer – Procedural, Anaesthetics provides clinical leadership, supervision, training and education; and develops and maintains the skills necessary to provide safe, effective, appropriate and quality clinical service.
Area Profile: Derby Hospital is currently a 31-bed facility with Accident and Emergency Department, operating theatres, day surgery, Outpatient department, GP Rooms, general medical/surgical ward, children’s ward and maternity ward. The hospital provides a 24-hour Ambulance services, staffed by orderlies and emergency department nursing staff. There is a close collaboration with outside health facilities—the Royal Flying Doctors Services, Derby Aboriginal Health Service and Community Health Services. Visiting specialist services from Broome and Perth include Paediatrics, General Surgery, General Medicine, O & G, Ear, Nose and Throat, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, Dermatology, Cardiology, Radiology and Rheumatology.isitors.
