Who are we looking for?
Rossmoyne Senior High School (SHS) is seeking an inspiring and innovative leader to join our leadership team in the position of Associate Principal. The Associate Principal will work closely with the Principal and members of the executive to provide educational leadership in the school and the community.
About the role
As the Associate Principal, you will need to be a strategic thinker, proactive planner and skilled negotiator. While the current portfolio of this Associate Principal role is within the Middle Years (Years 7 - 9), you will need to demonstrate the interest and flexibility to assume other Associate Principal roles in future years.
You will be highly motivated, energetic and possess the qualities needed to bring people together, identify opportunities and establish new initiatives. You will demonstrate effective communication, organisational and interpersonal skills, and the ability to develop and maintain positive partnerships and to collaborate effectively with others.
As an educator of excellence, you will exhibit initiative and have problem solving capacity to develop solutions which will cater for the wide variety of demands in a large, complex organisation. Rossmoyne Senior High School Associate Principals work collaboratively though have negotiated areas of responsibility. Your strong leadership qualities and high-level professional knowledge of secondary schooling will be supported by experience and understanding of middle schooling (Years 7-9) processes and policies, which will be an advantage for the role.
You will be responsible for delivering the strategies and targets relevant to the role within the school’s Business Plan. This will include the development and monitoring of operational plans within the middle school environment and other portfolios of responsibility.
Your organisational and planning skills will enable you to effectively arrange course counselling, transition programs, and parent information evenings.
Rossmoyne Senior High School is a SEQTA school. It is expected you have an understanding of online systems and will take an active role in the roll out of SEQTA functionality.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be appointed to other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
