Our graduate program has been recognised Australia wide and is a joint initiative between the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation, Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development and Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety.
The position
The Strategic Projects Division of the Resources, Development & Defence Group of the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation is seeking a recent graduate (degree completed in the current or preceding calendar year) with a bachelor in one of the following Fields:
- Arts (Anthropology; History; Politics; International Relations)
- Economics
- Engineering and Mining
- Environmental Science
- Finance
- Law
- Urban and Regional Planning
The Strategic Projects Division facilitates across government planning and approvals in support of projects beneficial to the State. The Division is also responsible for project advice regarding land access and assembly.
As a graduate, you will carry out a range of functions during three (3) month placements throughout JTSI, and possibly through other WA Government departments before returning to your position in the Strategic Projects Division.

Initial employment is on a fixed term contract with provision for permanent appointment following successful completion of the first twelve months. At the end of the program, you will return to a position in the Strategic Projects Division.

- A copy of your academic record and evidence of your bachelor degree in one of the above disciplines, or an approved equivalent degree (completed in the current or preceding calendar year.)
- Your CV including the names and contact details of two referees.
- A cover letter (maximum three pages) which outlines the following:
- Why you are interested in working at the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation, and how it fits with your career aspirations; and
- A description of your role in a project (university assignment is ok) that you have undertaken or participated in that demonstrates your research and communication skills.
Please note that completion of a National Police Clearance may form part of the selection process.
