Appointment Pool
Sevenoaks Senior College is seeking to establish a pool of talented Teachers to work in the Canning Skills Big Picture Engagement Program for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2018 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2019. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2018 school year, up to the end of Term 2, 2019.
Canning Skills offers students an opportunity to engage and connect with education by using a personal learning plan that enables each student to pursue their passion. Students learn through work shadowing and internships, and exhibit and talk about their work and experiences.
Students engage in special interest projects and reflect on and assess what they have learnt. This is the Big Picture learning cycle that connects students to an educational experience that is relevant, enjoyable and interesting.
Canning Skills provides students with the opportunities to achieve an equivalent Year 10 qualification, a Certificate II in General Education for Adults (CGEA Certificate II 21773VII). Students will also have the opportunity to achieve a Certificate II in Functional Literacy and/or Certificate II in Skills for Work and Vocational Pathways whilst building a comprehensive Western Australian Statement of Student Achievement (WASSA), a transcript of their achievements to the end of Year 12.
A number of elective options are also part of the program and include; healthy lifestyles, fitness and wellbeing, student garden and cooking, art workshops, community projects, keys for life driver education, access to the Sevenoaks Clontarf Football Academy, and access to the David Wirrpanda Foundation Deadly Sista Girlz program.
We are looking for a teacher who is passionate about working with students who are trying to re-engage with education, who may have low literacy and numeracy skills and who need one on one support.
The successful applicants will need to teach across curriculum, including English and Mathematics; a generalist approach to teaching is required. A TAE Certificate IV qualification would be advantageous.
The program involves four teachers, two tertiary trained Youth Workers and two Teacher Assistants.
Sevenoaks Senior College presents a fresh new approach to senior schooling in Western Australia. The College caters for up to 500 Year 11 and Year 12 students from across the metropolitan area. The College is located near the Cannington train station. It is the local school for students from Cannington and Maddington areas.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
