Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other "similar" vacancies throughout the health service. Position Profile: This is an exciting Telepsychiatry role for a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, for WA Country Health Service (WACHS). This position will be based in Perth(alternative locations is negotiable). The role provides a service across regions in Country WA, and will work closely with Area Director Child and Adolescent Mental Health and Child and Adolescent Mental Health Team Leaders in providing consultation and clinical advice to multidisciplinary teams. The Consultant Psychiatrist will undertake comprehensive psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, treatment and support case management of children and adolescent(0-18 years). The role will require the occasional visits to the regional teams. The role will ensure that all clinical sessions are in accordance with the National Mental Health Standards, the WA Mental Health Act and all associated legislative, regulatory and policy frameworks.
Area Profile: The WA Country Health Service (WACHS) is uniquely placed as the geographically largest area health service provider in Australia with a demographically culturally diverse and scattered population of over 500,000 people spread unevenly across seven regions. Each region within WACHS has its own unique characteristics, and therefore Mental Health services differ strategically and operationally. Due to the uniqueness and geographic size of WA, utilization of tele-Mental Health technology is an integral part of WACHS Mental Health. A focus for WACHS’ Mental Health services is to provide services to people who face specific rural and sociocultural challenges that may compound disadvantage. WACHS Mental Health Community Services are supported by four acute patient units across Country WA which vary in size and service provision.
