Inspectors for WorkSafe Retail & Service Industries Team in the WorkSafe Service Industries and Specialist Directorate have a pivotal role to play in ensuring safe workplaces in West Australia.
We are offering a permanent opportunity at our newly refurbished Cannington site, conveniently located close to public transport links, free secure parking and amenities.
The role
As a Level 4 Inspector you will:
- Undertake in-house and on the job training to carry out routine inspections and issue written notices while working in a team of inspectors undertaking the enforcement of Occupational Safety and Health legislation.
- Be responsible for building your capacity to take more senior roles.
- Investigate workplace incidents and accidents.
- Promote OSH and provide information to workplaces
- Participate in team projects.
- Contribute to sustaining a positive team culture.
- Complete mandatory tasks of the career progression system to progress through to Level 5.
- Hold a current “C” class car licence.
- Hold a Certificate IV or higher OSH related qualification or relevant experience.
As a Level 5 Inspector you will:
- Carry out regulatory and technical activities with limited guidance and advice, while working in a team of inspectors undertaking the enforcement of Occupational Safety and Health legislation.
- Coach and mentor less experienced colleagues as well as continuing to build your capacity to take on more senior roles.
- Represent the Department in a range of forums to meet the continuing challenge of improving safety and health in Western Australian workplaces.
- Investigate complex and sensitive workplace incidents and accidents.
- Promote OSH, deliver presentations and provide information to workplaces/organisations.
- Take responsibility for sustaining a positive Team culture
- Complete mandatory tasks of the career progression system, to progress through to the next salary increment.
- Hold a current “C” class car licence.
- Hold a Diploma or higher OSH related qualification or relevant experience.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. The classification level of candidate appointment will be dependent on skills, experience and suitability for the role. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be appointed to other similar vacancies that occur throughout our department within twelve (12) months from the date of finalisation of the recruitment process.
