Leonora District High School (DHS) is seeking an enthusiastic and engaging Kindergarten to Year 10, Physical Education Teacher who is ready to make a positive difference to the lives of our students. Skills in ICT and Digital Technologies would be advantageous. There is an opportunity for leadership of our Digital Technologies project that is linked to Science Pathways. The ability to build effective relationships within our school community is also important.

Leonora DHS is located in the mining community of Leonora, 840km north east of Perth and 240km north of the regional centre, Kalgoorlie. Leonora is on the edge of the Central Desert region; featuring hot summers, cool winters and a very low rainfall.
Our team enjoy exploring the local countryside, camping in the bush and taking opportunities to socialise with staff across our network of schools. Our town offers a recreation centre, swimming pool and small supermarket.
The present population of the town is approximately 700. Employment is mainly in mining, local business and to a lesser degree in public administration and in the pastoral industry.
Kalgoorlie is the nearest large regional centre, an approximate two and a half hour drive, offering all the services and facilities you would expect in Australia’s largest outback city. There are four flights in and out of Leonora direct to Perth each week.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for fixed term or permanent appointments to other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
