Lake Grace District High School (DHS) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Physical Education/Science teacher to join their team.
This role encompasses teaching Physical Education to our students from Kindergarten through to Year 10. An understanding of fundamental movement skills in the early years would be advantageous. The role also requires Science to be taught across the primary and secondary years. As a rural district high school, this role may also encompass teaching other areas of the curriculum across Kindergarten to Year 10 as required.
Lake Grace DHS is looking for a teacher with high expectations who be able to demonstrate the capacity to provide an engaging and relevant learning environment to benefit all students. Evidence-based teaching practices and assessment practices to guide further student learning will be a core part of your repertoire of skills. Effective classroom management strategies are used to maintain an orderly, organised and learning focussed environment.
The successful applicant will possess a comprehensive knowledge of the WA Curriculum and Assessment Outline. Explicit teaching strategies and the ability to use data to drive planning will be evident. The implementation of the school business plan will be supported and applicants will be committed to whole school approaches and pedagogies.
Lake Grace DHS is situated in the Great Southern Wheatbelt in a vibrant and progressive rural community. The School benefits from exceptional community support and is an integral partner in the community. The school caters for students from Kindergarten to Year 10. The Year 11 and Year 12 students are catered for on-site through the School of Isolated and Distance Education.
The school was selected as an inaugural Independent Public School in 2009. This has given the Lake Grace DHS Board greater capacity to respond to student needs by shaping its strategic direction. In shaping the school's strategic direction the School Board has built Lake Grace DHS's capacity to strive for excellence in teaching and learning. The increased autonomy has led to a high level of responsibility and accountability for all.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for fixed term appointments to other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
