Sevenoaks Senior College (SC) is seeking to appoint a knowledgeable and dedicated English teacher to join our highly motivated and talented English learning area.
The successful applicant will need to demonstrate their ability to work with Year 11 and 12 students who are striving to reach their potential and meet SCASA course requirements. In particular the successful candidate will need to be able to teach Year 11 and 12 Foundations, General and ATAR English.
The successful applicant will need to work collaboratively with staff and be willing to develop and share resources for the betterment of the entire learning area. We are seeking a highly motivated individual who sees their immersion in College initiatives and professional development as beneficial to their own growth and pedagogical improvements. The ability to engage professional with colleagues and the community and promote excellence in creating and maintaining supportive and safe learning environments is paramount. The ability to communicate and relate to young people in a mutually respectful way so as to ensure that positive classroom and campus relationships are developed is also highly important.
Sevenoaks Senior College staff work very hard to continually find ways to help students understand and engage with their curriculum. Teachers provide timely feedback and make sure student’s assessments are returned promptly with well annotated notes to scaffold learning. Teachers believe that every student can learn and achieve and they work hard to mentor and work with students across all programs in the College. We are a very dynamic educational community, with students and their teachers – together with their parents, community member and industry partners – all working collaboratively within a team environment.
Sevenoaks SC offers a suite of programs involving a comprehensive range of Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) courses, VET qualification in Automotive and Metals & Engineering in our Trade Training Centre. We have an International Centre for EALD support and a comprehensive Follow the Dream program for our Aboriginal Students. We also have a large re-engagement program for students needing additional support.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be appointed to other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
