Who are we looking for?
Rossmoyne Senior High School (SHS) is seeking a strategic and innovative leader to join our leadership team in the position of Associate Principal – Quality Teaching and Workforce. This role will suit a high performing secondary or primary school leader.
About the role
As the Associate Principal, you will focus on leading the development of the school’s professional learning strategy, career development initiatives and strategic workforce planning.
With a school-wide focus on student achievement, you will identify and implement professional learning opportunities for staff that are aligned with staff learning plans and school priorities. Through the provision of regular and effective feedback, you will review, monitor and motivate staff to keep their skills current through the use of research and new technologies.
Your organisational and planning skills will enable you to forecast the school’s needs and priorities, to effectively develop and implement successful workforce planning strategies. You will anticipate change and put strategies in place to ensure the school is equipped to meet student learning outcomes and performance expectations for years to come. Taking into consideration the school’s business plans, financial and budget considerations, and legislative requirements, you will ensure the school has the right people with the right skills.
You will be a prominent representative of the Principal, to both the community and school board, overseeing the school’s strategic and operational plans, including resource management. As an integral member of the leadership team, you will establish and maintain collaborative and respectful relationships with the school community, ensuring all students’ needs are met. Through building a culture of trust and collaboration, you will encourage staff and student feedback and contributions to the improvement and innovation of school resources. You will also play a key role in recruitment and selection of the upcoming leadership roles.
With the commitment and desire to create and sustain a student-centred learning environment, you will identify and implement strategies to meet the diverse needs of students and their families. You will communicate effectively and with diplomacy, and modify your leadership behaviour to obtain the best outcomes from all, whilst modelling and promoting the school’s vision, mission and core values to develop a staff culture dedicated to the success of all students.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:

Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;

High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;

Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).

Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy

hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;

obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
-
obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
-
complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
-
complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
-
complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
