MCB is recruiting for a pool of grounds staff to fill vacancies as they become available for the next 12 months at our Fremantle, Karrakatta and Pinnaroo sites. This position is responsible for the landscaping and maintenance of MCB’s cemetery sites and gardens. Our Grounds staff plays a key role in our core business area of providing sensitive services to the WA Community.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. However, applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process could be offered a similar role as vacancies arise during the next 12 months.
ABOUT THE JOB
Working as part of a team, you will be responsible for landscaping and maintenance at one of MCB’s cemetery sites, carrying out maintenance of grounds, garden/lawn areas, and ensuring a high standard in horticulture.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR - WORK RELATED REQUIREMENTS
- Relevant Trade Certificate e.g. Certificate III in Horticulture
Where an individual does not have formal qualification the following is required:
- 4 years relevant and accumulated experience; and
- Assessed as meeting the job requirement
2. The ability to work in a flexible team environment
3. A strong physical outdoor background
4. The ability to deliver consistent high standards in customer service
5. Sound interpersonal and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate sensitively with people at all levels and from differing ethnic backgrounds
6. Show initiative, self-motivation and the ability to work productively unsupervised
7. Knowledge and / or experience or the aptitude to learn the operation of different machinery and its general maintenance. For example, horticulture equipment such as tractors and backhoes
8. Commitment to honest and ethical work practices and behaviour
9. C-Class Driver’s Licence required (Manual)

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
Applicants will be required to disclose if they have been subject to disciplinary proceedings by their employer within the last two years. Suitable candidates must pass a pre-employment medical examination (which includes a standard Drug and Alcohol screening test), and consent to a 100 point identification check prior to recommendation for appointment.
