We are looking for someone with a sound knowledge of pastoral livestock production systems and livestock husbandry to take a lead role in our Livestock Compliance Unit Inspectorate activities and enforce relevant legislation.
The successful applicant will have regulatory experience, highly developed workplace communication skills and a demonstrated understanding of the livestock industry, particularly as it relates to pastoral production.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting investigations into possible offences under the Animal Welfare Act 2002 (the Act)
- Inspections of livestock establishments to monitor compliance with the Act
- Liaising with stakeholder groups on matters relating to compliance
- Assisting the Department to deliver appropriate animal welfare extension and education material in the Kimberley region and beyond
- Mentoring Livestock Compliance Unit inspectors in other areas to conduct investigations and inspections and
- Assisting the department develop policy around animal welfare compliance in WA
An acceptable National Police Certificate (police clearance), or equivalent, is an essential pre-employment requirement. This police clearance must be obtained prior to employment at applicant’s expense.
