About the Role
The Structural Engineer role is part of the Structures Engineering Branch. The key purpose of the Branch is to facilitate appropriate management of the State’s bridge assets, either directly or indirectly.
It is also the centre of knowledge and expertise to provide appropriate advice on technical issues for structures and waterways. Principal activities include bridge inspections, bridge load ratings, hydraulic and hydrology design, project design reviews, technical advice, review and development of standards and heavy vehicle bridge assessments as well as selected design works.
We are looking for an individual to perform the investigation and design of bridges and associated structures, assessment of bridges for heavy load movements and structures asset management tasks.
This role will require you to perform your work under the general direction of Structures Asset Policy Engineer with more complex tasks being completed under professional supervision.
As a Structural Engineer you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of bridge related projects throughout the state including bridge asset management.
To be successful in this role you will need a Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering as well as experience in bridge and steel/concrete structures design and analysis.

Submitting Your Application
Applicants are requested to submit a comprehensive CV demonstrating their relevant skills and abilities within the context of the Job Role Statement as well as a copy of your Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
Please also submit a statement outlining your considerable skill, knowledge and experience in the following four (4) criteria in no more than four (4) pages;
- One or more of bridge design, construction and maintenance
- Analysis and design of concrete and steel structures
- Research, analysis and problem solving
- Building and enhancing stakeholder relationships
Applicants who do not submit a copy of their Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and are assessed as not meeting the first two (2) selection criteria will not be assessed further.
All selection criteria listed in the Job Role Statement will be tested throughout the selection process for those applicants meeting the above requirements.
If your Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering was not obtained in Australia, the Australian equivalent must be submitted in your application.
